Makola is where Accra actually shops: fabric, food, electronics, everything, spread across streets rather than a building. It is overwhelming on purpose and it is one of the few places in the city that has not been smoothed out for visitors.
Go in the morning, go with someone who knows it, carry small notes, and keep your phone in your pocket rather than your hand. Buy fabric here if you are buying fabric at all.
