W.E.B. Du Bois Memorial Centre
The house where Du Bois spent his last years, and where he and his wife are buried.
W.E.B. Du Bois moved to Ghana in 1961 at Nkrumah's invitation, took Ghanaian citizenship, and died here in 1963. The house in Cantonments is now a memorial centre with his library, his study and the mausoleum in the garden.
It is small and quiet and it is the single most direct link between the American civil-rights movement and this country. If the trip means something to you beyond a holiday, put it on the list.
Check the hours before you go. It is closed on Sundays.
